In their 2019 book, The Rise of Carry, Tim Lee, Jamie and Kevin Coldiron proposed that the financial markets are subject to a ‘carry regime’ in which dominant transaction is carry trade - trades short volatility, leveraged, liquidity providing, prone long periods positive returns interspersed with dramatic crashes. rise this regime has been supported (perhaps unwittingly) by governments central banks. article, authors review behavior 2020 through lens hypothesis.
